The Essence of Prayer 29:45

Practice the inspiration that has been revealed through complete revelation. Perform lawful acts of worship beginning with glorification and ending with salutation. This will prevent shameful deeds that the laws of the inspired intellect rejects.

Knowledge of and living the revelation will protect you. Prayer plays a major role in that it keeps us from immorality as long as we remain regardful. When we pray for protection, we would do well to include a prayer for the protection from ourselves as well. The mere subtleties of the subconscious mind, which most are unaware of, can cause us to develop corrupt thoughts.

Therefore, without daily reverence to the Creator, such thoughts will eventually cloud the moral thinking. An example could be with the removal of prayer from the schools, came the installation of metal detectors in the schools.

It stands to reason that prayer keeps the human being grounded in his reality.
