Read, Recite, and Follow the Qur’an for Success: 7:204

When the Qur’an is read aloud, listen to it and pause so that you can be saved and successful.

The Qur’an is a unique book of scripture in that it is plainly meant to be read, recited aloud, and followed. One might say all scriptures are meant to be read, but the Qur’an is widely acknowledged as encompassing an auditory experience that conveys plain, clear instruction for the success of the soul.

The Qur’an, like other revealed books, is not without its mysteries, but they do not cloud the instruction. And the instruction carries depths of meaning, which is why listeners of the Qur’an must not listen to it as “background,” but should stop what they’re doing in order to reflect on the Word of G-d when they hear it.

Reading the Qur’an means reflecting. It means pausing. It also means Muslims must learn to understand Qur’anic Arabic, and not recite without understanding.

Since the Qur’an is read in prayer worship, it means your worship should be filled with deep reflection. You will not find success and safety for your soul if you don’t reflect on G-d’s signs.
